We are pleased to announce that our team will be strengthened by Alex Petan, a seasoned player with years of successful experience in the ICE league. Alex is a versatile forward, capable of playing both center and wing. Offensively, he is highly consistent and has ranked among the top players on every ICE league team he has played for. He is a tenacious, creative, and technically skilled player.

Throughout his career, Alex has competed in several European and North American leagues, including the AHL, ECHL, the German DEL, and most notably, the international ICEHL. Over the past two seasons, he played for HC Pustertal, and prior to that, for Fehérvár AV19 and HC Bolzano — with whom he won the ICEHL championship.

In addition to his undeniable quality on the ice, Alex also has a strong emotional connection to Slovenia. His father was Slovenian, born in Brežice. One of Alex’s longtime dreams has been to play in the capital city of his father’s homeland. A fun fact — his middle name is Franc.

Anže Ulčar, CEO of HK Olimpija:
“Anyone who closely follows the ICE league knows Alex Petan well. He is a very intelligent and consistently effective player who excels in a variety of roles. A noteworthy detail is that he shoots right-handed, which brings greater balance to our team setup. What sealed the deal, however, was his strong desire to play for Olimpija. Given the passion and commitment with which he is joining us, we are convinced that we’ve gained more than just a high-quality player — we’ve gained an energetic leader both on and off the ice.”
