Canadian defenseman Clayton Kirichenko is joining Olimpija

HK Olimpija Ljubljana announces a new addition to its defensive lineup! The club has signed Canadian defenseman Clayton Kirichenko, the top-scoring defenseman in the ICE Hockey League during the 2023/24 season.

Clayton Kirichenko is a versatile defenseman with significant offensive upside. Before coming to Europe, Kirichenko stood out in Canadian university hockey, where he captained the University of Alberta team to a championship title. In the 2023/24 season, he played for Pioneers Vorarlberg in the ICE Hockey League, making a strong impression as the highest-scoring defenseman with an impressive 41 points in 48 games. This season, he started in Germany’s DEL and finished in the Slovak Extraliga.
