The team of Hockey Club Olimpija Ljubljana has been strengthened by the addition of defenseman Nathanael Halbert.

Halbert was born in Great Britain and raised in Canada, where he played in junior leagues and at the university level. He studied economics at McGill University, where he also served as assistant captain of the hockey team.

After completing his studies, he played in the North American AHL before moving to Europe, where he joined Coventry Blaze in the British EIHL. In his second season, he became captain of the team and was one of its key players. In the 2023/24 season, he played in the ICEHL for HC Innsbruck, and last season he played in Slovakia for HKM Zvolen. Nate Halbert is also an important member of the Great Britain national team, with which he has participated in three World Championships.

Anže Ulčar, General Manager of HK Olimpija:

“Nate is a versatile defenseman who plays tough and assertive in front of his net and in battles overall. He is a responsible player who joins offensive plays when appropriate, and he’s effective when he does. He is known for his consistency on the ice and his strong dedication to his role.”
