New Signing for Ice Hockey Club Olimpija Ljubljana: Nicolai Meyer
The offensive lines of Ice Hockey Club Olimpija will be strengthened in the upcoming season by seasoned Danish forward Nicolai Meyer. Meyer brings with him a rich international career and joins us with a clear goal – to significantly contribute to our team’s offensive effectiveness.
Throughout his career, Meyer has played in top European leagues, including the Swedish SHL, the German DEL, and the ICEHL, where he won the championship with Salzburg in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. In the 2022/23 season, he scored the decisive goal that secured the title for the “Bulls.” While playing for Södertälje SK in Sweden’s Allsvenskan league during the 2018/19 season, he was recognized as the league’s best forward, top scorer, and best playmaker.
He is a regular member of the Danish national team and has played in numerous World Championships, including the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022, where Denmark made its debut and reached the quarterfinals. He excels both as a scorer and a playmaker and is known for his outstanding technical skills, game sense, and relentless character.
Anže Ulčar, Director of HK Olimpija:
“Nicolai is a versatile forward who reads and understands the game very well and consistently performs at a high level. He has an excellent trait of being highly effective when it matters most, which we of course expect him to continue in the green jersey. His character will also be a great addition to our locker room.”
