On Saturday 11.11 and Sunday 12.11, the hockey club Slavija Junior organized the international tournament of U-9 selections.
Teams from Slovenia, Italy, Austria and Croatia took part in the tournament.
The first day of the tournament was running smoothly. The Olimpija players shared their wardrobe with their peers from Bled and Jesenice, which only added to the charm of the whole event.
During the individual matches, the players had quite a bit of free time, so the day was quite tiring, but therefore no less pleasant to hang out with their peers.
On the second day, it was the turn of the last matches of the group stage, followed by the matches for the final rankings. The players of Olimpija took second place in the group stage, but then they showed an excellent game in the semifinals and qualified for the finals, where they lost to HKMK Bled 4: 3 after a good performance.
Trainer Andraž Praprotnik was satisfied with the games shown: “The tournament was long, as the players had quite a bit of free time during the matches. But the young hockey players felt comfortable in the tournament. The first day they were a little easier on the schedule, and the second day was already very competitive. The team has shown good progress and all participants deserve praise".
The quality of the team was also shown by good goalkeepers. Both goalkeepers defended excellently. Jan Bole however, he was eventually voted the tournament’s best goalkeeper.
Upon completion, the players rejoiced with new medals and trophies, and then, satisfied, slowly headed home.
