Anže Ropret is the new coach of the junior selections

Striker Anže Ropret is saying goodbye to playing professional hockey, but he remains at HK SŽ Olimpija as part of the coaching team of the junior selections.

"Anže Ropret has decided to end his playing career and because we at the club appreciate his mark on the team and his hockey skills, we invited him to participate in the junior selections. He accepted the challenge, which makes us very happy. In the next season, he will join our coaching team and coach the U13 and U15 teams in a pair with the experienced Igor Beribak. I believe that they will be a great connection and together they will further upgrade our work with the hockey youth., ”He said Anže Ulčar, director of HK SŽ Olimpija.

"Due to a shoulder injury, I decided to end my professional acting career. When I was offered the position of coach of the junior selections at the club, I gladly accepted the challenge. Even after the end of my active sports career, I wanted to stay in hockey. Since my first hockey steps were also in this club, I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with young Olympic hockey players, ”He says Ange Ropret.

Anže Ropret spent most of his hockey career in a green and white jersey. In the ICEHL league (EBEL) he played 385 matches and scored 105 points. In the Alpine Hockey League, he played two seasons in the jersey of our club, played 85 games, scored 94 points and raised the league champion's cup with us in the 2020/21 season.

Anže, thank you for your performances in the green jersey and we are looking forward to a new beginning with a new season!
