Antti Karhula is the new head coach of HK SŽ Olimpija

The last few days have been quite colorful in our club, but today we are starting a new chapter. We are happy to announce that the management of HK SŽ Olimpija has agreed to cooperate with a renowned Finnish coach Antti Karhula, who takes over the leadership of the member team.

Antti (Upi) Karhula comes from a Finnish hockey school and built his coaching career in Finland in the Mestis League, in the Erste League in Hungary, in the ICE League he was the coach of Fehervar AV19 and finally the coach of HC Banska Bystrica. He arrived in Ljubljana late this afternoon and will lead the team already on the road in Graz on Friday, January 27. The club and Antti Karhula concluded cooperation for the next season as well. With the new coach, some changes are expected in the team, which we will keep you informed about.

"There have been big changes in the club in recent days, so I am very happy that we brought a Finnish hockey expert to our hockey familyjaka. We believe that he will be able to motivate the boys and prepare them for the most important part of the season ahead of us. We are particularly pleased that Atti Karhula and I found a common denominator in the continuation of our story, that is, the development of Slovenian hockey players and work with young people. We will also actively start building the team for next season," he said upon signing the contract with the new coach Miha Butara, president of HK SŽ Olimpija.

We are also happy that with the new coach we will continue our story, which we have set for ourselves. In the club, we swear by the dominant Slovenian team, because we know that even with such a team we can be competitive and ambitious. At the same time, we keep Slovenian hockey at a high level.

"I was happy to respond to the invitation from Ljubljana, whose story I followed last season and I believe that we can strengthen and build on it in the future. ...," he said after arriving in Ljubljana Antti Karhula.
